Stepping
into the management of a sprawling 19,000 sqft estate near the San
Diego Wineries, I embraced both on-site and remote coordination to guide
its next chapter. The estate, once primarily an Airbnb investment, was
evolving into a premier venue for short-term stays and exclusive events.
Over the next year, I worked closely with local artisans, florists, and photographers, expanding the network of preferred vendors, while collaborating with event planners to transform the property into a highly sought-after destination for intimate weddings, corporate retreats, and curated experiences that celebrated the region’s rich culture and the people who gravitated toward it.
As the primary contact for corporate leasing inquiries, I was proactive to prospect sales opportunities, scheduling up to 50 calls before each day, and integrating myself into the community to identify prospective tenants. Advertising became a creative outlet for me. I designed compelling booklets and eye-catching web ads, leading to a noticeable increase in inquiries. Each tour, whether virtual or in-person, was an opportunity to showcase the estate's charm and unique features.
Spending evenings more regularly at the property, a dinner with the owners led to a natural curiosity for cultural programming at the estate. Drawing on my personal time in galleries and museums, I organized events with local artists and culinary partners that attracted new guests. Building a sense of community soon became essential for resident retention.
I organized a variety of branded events, from music nights and networking brunches to co-hosting a monthly wine club, which transformed the estate into a lively hub. These memorable events not only brought the community together but further elevated our estate’s reputation at local organizations and hospitality industry events.
Each experience needed to ensure that exceptional care was never lost between each reset. I worked hand-in-hand with facility managers and construction teams to oversee renovation projects, ensuring the property stayed in excellent condition. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance were indirectly key for maintaining strong relationships with event planners and catering companies. From this, we were able to leverage our network for direct relationships and warm referrals that attracted a steady stream of clients.
One notable event was a high-profile wedding where last-minute cancellations from their 3rd party vendors required quick, decisive action. Renegotiating new agreements and rearranging schedules, I ensured everything went off without a hitch. Through it all, my focus remained on being calm under pressure, delivering results, and providing a private and welcoming environment.
